Top Social Gainers for Sunday, April 14th, 2019

Here are today's biggest developing stories in crypto based on Santiment's data:

  • ENJ (550+ new mentions in the last 24hrs)

Enjin is up 23.1% over the last 48 hours, and the crowd is loving it. The rally was likely triggered by the recently-announced additions to the EnjinX explorer, including support for ERC-1155 blockchain assets, which will allow users to search, browse, and verify ERC-1155 assets and transactions:

The project also said that it’s building a ‘decentralized & incorruptible’ version of the book/movie Ready Player One, by creating in-game items/assets backed by a certain amount of Enjin Coin that will be shared across a network of games. You can find more details on it here.

If you’ve been following Enjin during the Samsung rumours back in February, you know the project has a very vocal and animated fan base. They’ve also appeared in droves for Enjin’s recent Binance AMA which prompted a short-lived rally (as ENJ spiked 10.8% in about 3hrs) and got ENJ on top of our Top Social Gainers list for the day:

Needless to say, this was more than enough fuel for ENJ shilling to begin anew:

“Its ENJ time“

“Buy enj before it flys“

“enj is better than bitcoin“

As with the recent AMA pump, the rally proved to be short lived, with the coin already down more than 5% over the past 24 hours:

Still, the rally is further proof that virtually any announcement related to ENJ appears likely to move the needle. As one telegram user put it: “enj doesnt need news”

  • WABI (530+ new mentions in the last 24hrs)

The project formerly known as WaBi (recently rebranded to Tael) becomes the latest recipient of an infamous Binance AMA pump.

Over the last two months, Binance has hosted a series of project AMAs on their main English Telegram group, highlighting some of the coins listed on their exchange and giving away a variety of project-related goodies.

Next up is Wabi, whose co-founders are planned to address the Binance community this upcoming Tuesday (April 16th):

We’ve covered this Binance AMA Effect before - it seems like any time one is hosted, the project experiences a surge in popularity on crypto social media, ending up on our Top Social Gainers list in the process. For some of them, the AMA hype also translates to a price rally, as was the case with Neblio not that long ago:

Now, it seems the projects too are starting to pick up on this correlation. Not leaving anything to chance, Tael even stepped in to help with the pre-AMA pump, teasing a big partner reveal during the event:

As a result, the coin is up 69.7% since yesterday, currently sitting at a 9-month high $0.42. It has also gained plenty in social volume, recording 530+ new mentions over the last 24 hours.

Should the gambit prove successful, Tael's 'strategy' might provide a working blueprint for future Binance AMA recipients. Who knows - we might even begin to see projects time big reveals and project announcements with their ask-me-anythings, effectively making Binance AMA pumps a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  • IOTA (180+ new mentions in last 24hrs)

“Someone broke IOTA“ Confusion and FUD as IOTA draws a loong red 24hr candle amid no news or project announcements:

“Sad life for $iota community. Don't know what's going on but IOTA is s#@%ting its pants now.”

The coin’s been trending downward for most of the week, even as the market climbed to a 5-month high, leading some to speculate whale capitulation:

IOTA also experienced a surge in social mentions thanks to its recent price action, as Santiment recorded 180+ mentions of the coin over the last 24hrs.

That said, the crowd sentiment about IOTA seems to be mixed. While some are calling this an opportune time to stack up on the coin:

...others expressed their general disappointment with the project, and explained the downtrend as natural:

“When was $IOTA not broken?”

“It was born broke”

“It was never working”

“It was easy to predict. Iota is a scam almost bigger than neo”

Meanwhile, Dominik Schiener, IOTA's cofounder is scheduled to give a speech during the Paris Blockchain Week Summit, which starts tomorrow. Watch this space.
