Top Social Gainers for Friday, March 22nd, 2019

Here are today's biggest developing stories in crypto based on Santiment's data:

dai/cdps/peg/rate (295+ new mentions in last 24hrs)

MakerDAO holders have approved a proposal to increase stability fees by 4% to 7.5% per year. This comes rather sudden given that they just had a proposal to raise fees to 3.5% per year not long ago.

This increase in stability fee was not without valid reason though. The key factors as mentioned in latest proposal:

  • Exchange price persists below $1
  • High inventory levels among market makers and prop desks
  • Little attributable impact from the previous Stability Fee increases

The proposal shouldn't come as a surprise as that’s just how the system is designed and supposed to work. However, it does put CDP holders in a rather stressful position and their frustration is certainly understandable.

There are some CDP holders that accepted it nonethless.

tezos (291+ new mentions in last 48hrs)

What a week it has been for Tezos (XTZ). A +66% gain (7D) , with price eventually settling at $0.746764. They also completed their 1st blockchain voting and will be going forward with the Athens A proposal.

Prior to the price spike on 21st March, several influential crypto traders on twitter were highlighting XTZ.

This eventually prompted many to wonder why and some even suggesting an orchestrated P&D.

Interestingly, when we first noticed the tweet by Luke Martin on 20th March, we were curious whether “everyone” was the crowd as no signals about Tezos went off on SANbase.

So we did a quick search and found:

  • Tezos hasn't pop up as a trending word in #crypto social media
  • Neither did the social volume skyrocket. But it did pick up a little: https://app.santiment.net/labs/trends/explore/tezos%20OR%20XTZ?asset=tezos&timeRange=3m
  • Perhaps a while more before Everyone = Crowd. 😀

That tweet actually aged pretty well since then, as it looks like the crowd is finally in today!

That said, given that XTZ isn't listed on Binance, there still remains a larger crowd that is not actively discussing the token. Will be interesting to see what the social volume and price will be when XTZ is on Binance.

chaintip (124+ new mentions in last 72hrs)

Reddit user u/BitcoinXio celebrated the return of popular BCH reddit tipbot u/chaintip’s return by kicking off a Tipping Tuesdays thread in r/btc.

While it’s a nice tipbot, its reliability was generally frustrating for community members in the past. The last time it worked was around 4 months ago in mid-Novemeber 2018.

As always, visit SANbase to explore these and other trends in more detail!
